Review genres seem to be like buses for me - I wait for ages for something that isn't one genre and then two of another come along at the same time!
Write This Down follows in the same vein as Sent By Ravens but, luckily, it's not a bad thing. This album isn't as rocking as the Tooth & Nail sound of the Ravens, but it works just as well.

The first thing that hit me about this album is the stunning resemblance of the vocals to those of the singer from Metro Station; I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to find out they were the same person, although from the tiny picture of the album cover I found, it doesn’t look likely.
The whole album sounds like Metro Station mashed with a bit of Linkin Park. There are some moments, particularly in intros, where the sound is incredibly stereotypical of what you would expect from the mention of Linkin Park but there are some really creative moments in amidst them that makes it easy to forgive.
Hand Grenades for example, has some great contrasts in the textures and really catchy melodies in the verses. Citadel slows things down nicely after a heavy few tracks by stripping down to pianos and vocals which are joined by guitar and harmonies in the chorus. It's not the most sophisticated of ballads, but it does work. Then we are back with more interesting textures in the gang vocal chorus of We Shot The Moon were the roughness should be distracting but again, it works.
On the whole a strong album from Write This Down. They aren't reinventing the wheel with it, but they are putting some interesting spins in.
