I like indie music, I like music that isn't normal, call it weird music, call it alternative, call it anything you want, what I like is creative music. So when I hear a band that tries something a little bit out of the ordinary (just look at Rend Collective Experiment and The City Harmonic) I jump on the band's bandwagon. I think that says more about me than anything.

So here I go jumping on another band's bandwagon, they are Queens Club from Kansas City, releasing a 5 track EP called Friendly. The band describe themselves on their facebook page as Garage, Electro, Pop, which I would say is a fair comparison. While you are on their facebook page, remember you can download this 5 track EP for free, all you've got to do is click the like button and you can enjoy Friendly whenever you want.
Looking around on the wonderful world wide web, you can gather that this 5 track EP isn't the first release from the band. In March 2010 they released a 12 track album called Young Giant. You also grasp that the band loves playing live, they seemed to be full of tour dates for what seems like all of this year. So hopefully if you're in the right place and the right time you will get to see these guys live.
It's really strange to see such a short EP being in two halves, but primarily that is what Friendly is. Let's start at the second half, the mini album ends with two acoustic songs from their early 2010 release Young Giant, two good songs especially the softly sung Upstart which cries out a standout track.
On the other half of the EP, the first three tracks are a complete turn around compared to the second half. If there is one band I could compare the tracks to, it would have to be The Klaxons (sorry if you don't know who they are). Legendary opens up with a dance drum beat with one fast guitar driving the song and a second guitar playing over the top a piercing guitar riff. This similar style continues into the next two songs Standing on The Shoulders of Giants (wasn't that an Oasis album in 1999?) and Darkkstar which is a lot faster than the two opening tracks, in song length and pace of the music.
If you like Electro rock music, Queens Club are one band you might want to check out. I personally have been sold by this EP and am off now to look into buying their last album. You can get this EP for free and if you want to hear a great acoustic song, head over and get it, if nothing else than for the amazing acoustic version of Upstart.
