Jesslyn McCutcheon Releases Video For 'On the Edge'
Jesslyn McCutcheon, a Contemporary Christian Singer/Songwriter from King NC, has just unveiled a new video for her song 'On The Edge' as she prepares to go back into the studio to record a new EP. The song is the title track from her first studio solo album which was released last year. Jesslyn started writing at the age of 23 after she was home bound for 2 years due to severe depression. At the age of 26, she was diagnosed with having bipolar disorder which she refused to accept at the time.
Jesslyn is no longer afraid of who she is or what she has to face having this disorder. She hopes that her music will help inspire others who walk through the darkness at times in their life and then come out on the other side. Jesslyn has been a Christian since the age of 6 but her faith was shattered when going through her early mid 20's and having to face all that she did.
Jesslyn struggled for many years with unspeakable pain and wondered where was God during all of this? Could He even hear her? Jesslyn wants the world to know that it is only because of God she is where she is today and her music will express just that. It took Jesslyn awhile to finally find her place in this world but she is on a mission that nothing can stop her now from sharing her story and the message of how good God is.
Discussing the album, 'On The Edge', Jesslyn explains, "The album takes you on a journey of what I have had to face during the years of struggling with severe depression and anxiety and then being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. It is an album written around finding my way back into the arms of Jesus. It starts with the very first song 'Empty Emily' in those early years and how lost I was. I was lost! Even though I had been saved for years and I loved Jesus, I didn’t understand why I couldn’t get out of the pit. I didn’t understand why He was not hearing me when I cried out to him begging, pleading for Him to rescue me. I didn’t understand why I had to endure the deepest pain I had ever had to face. I didn’t understand why I was not getting better or if I would ever be able to function again. I now understand why I endured what I did and through all the suffering, all the pain, I found who I needed all along. It is only by His mercy, His grace, He put my feet back on the ground and breathed life back into me.
Off this album, the song that seems to be reaching people the most so far is 'Silly Girl.' God tells us not to worry, not to fear, but I didn’t see it at the time. I fell down over and over again. This song talks about how forgiving of a God we have even when we face adversity in our lives and the anxiety we can have.
Currently, I am working on a new EP album I hope to release in the beginning of 2021. I will be going back into the studio this month which is very exciting to record 3 of the songs I wrote over the past couple of months. This album is different from the first. This album will be all about the love of Jesus. I cannot wait to share some of these new songs!"
