Oct 24 2016

MOBO 2013 award winning artist, Lurine Cato has released her debut album, 'Chosen to Serve'. The album features special guest appearances from popular British singer/songwriter Philippa Hanna, and rapper Triple O.

Having worked with Kim Burrell, Kylie Minogue, Mary J Blige, Andrea Bocelli, Susan Boyle, Kirk Franklin; Lurine Cato has ventured out to create her debut album, 'Chosen to Serve'.

A successful pre-album launch event at 100 Wardour Street in the heart of the West End blew up the social networks. The album follows the highly successful pre-album release, ‘Power’ in November 2015, No.1 on aStepFwd UK Charts. ‘Chosen To Serve’ is very diverse; each track links and speaks of the impact of life experiences. Some songs allow Cato’s effortless five-octave range to fly. Others demonstrate her ability to write across genres and all, have great lyrics. With surprising songs, such as Shemotion; the song is about women holding on to their dignity and integrity inspite of what they’ve faced. ‘The Love in Me’ distinctive beat builds and grows is one of many highlights. While the afrobeat, ‘Wave it Away’ is already getting crowds moving to this cracking number.

The album includes some collaboration such as the explosive, RnB/Hip Hop gospel track, ‘Pressure’. Lurine Cato fulfilled a lifetime ambition to work with her long-time friend and ‘brother’, Isaiah Raymond (Raymond & Co), with the solid, distinctive tone of Faye Simpson (Nu Colours) and the fiery lyrics of rapper, Triple O; the track is electrifying. The mood changes with ‘Never Alone’, Lurine’s duet with Philippa Hanna (Arrow), speaks to the forgotten that there is hope.

With four producers, Cato revisits working with Marcus Johnson (Nu Colours, Soul II Soul) Ian Green (Jennifer Lopez, Noel Robinson); Mark Qura Rankin(Christina Aguilera) and Shaun Stewart known as the producer with Lurine Cato’s anthem ‘You Revive Me’. The title track, ‘Chosen To Serve’, will captivate you with Lurine Cato’s pure, vocal honesty. This has been a great year for Lurine, winning Premier Gospel Best Female Artist, GMA Italy Best International Vocalist of the Year and with ‘Chosen To Serve’; Lurine Cato is about to soar.
