Review: CRC Music
Greater Than All (Deluxe)

Mar 28 2024

CRC Music have released the new album 'Greater Than All' , the 3rd and final form of the 'Greater Than All' series that makes up the second live album from the passionate, dynamic and diverse South African worship team of Christian Revival Church.

Featuring 13 tracks that were recorded live in CRC Pretoria, South Africa, in front of 7000 multicultural and multigenerational worshippers on a night that can only be described as unforgettable. The Deluxe album also features 2 new studio versions of “A Love Unbroken” and “No Greater Love”, as well as 2 new studio songs never released previously.

The Deluxe album sums up the entire year of CRC Music, that was appropriately themed GREATER, and what a Great year it was. Both of the Greater Than All EP 1 and 2 released on 02 October 2018 and 11 December 2018 had great success on the Christian music charts. Both EP’s soared to the top of the South African iTunes charts and topped the global and gospel charts at #1 for two weeks. Songs like, Letting Go, A Love Unbroken, Recklessly Abandoned, Oh How I Love You, You Are Good and Praise on My Lips quickly became popular requests on Christian radio stations

Greater Than All, is the product of a collaboration among songwriters across CRC campuses, nationally and internationally. These songs are inspired and birthed from sermons by Ps At Boshoff, with one goal in mind, “to win the lost at any cost”.

What can I say apart from there is a lot happening on this album. If you like the albums of Hillsong United, Passion, Bethel, Planetshakers - you will love this album. The track 'You Are Good' is exciting, uplifting and passionate. I don’t usually say this about songs but for me the pre-chorus is brilliant, it's even better than the chorus itself! As described earlier, this song sounds a bit like something Planetshakers would have released with it's energy. This also could be said for the track 'Amplified', another big passionate energetic song.

The are so many upbeat tracks on here, 'No Greater Love' has this 80s sound going on as does the song 'This Is Freedom'. The vocals at times are stunning. The song which is one of my favourites, 'Praise On My Lips', is what I would call a modern dance sound, with these strong vocals that knocked me off my feet.

Other great moments on the album are the song 'Letting Go', which is a solid worship track, and 'Oh How I Love You' which slowly builds and builds into an epic song. The pace is lifted with the track 'Unto Forever'. On this song everything seems quicker, and more intense and even rockier.

Overall a great album that takes a leaf out of the big churches' notebook in regards to style and sound. Some really strong songs on here that I would encourage you to check out.
