Christians In Coronavirus Lockdown Help Rob Westall Make New Worship Video

May 07 2020

Worship leader and recording artist Rob Westall has released a new song and video with a little help from friends affected by the Coronavirus lockdown. 'Show us your Glory' was released on the Welsh singer songwriter's You Tube channel on Saturday 28th March 2020. The video features people of all ages stuck at home due to the lockdown singing along to the song, crying out to God to save us and ‘Show us your Glory.’

Rob Westall said: “The band and I had been booked into the studio for a while to start work on our next EP but it became pretty clear that we weren’t going to be able to do so due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

‘Show us your Glory’ is a song for this moment that everybody can sing and I felt a real weight to record it and get it out there as soon as possible. So, I went to the studio and recorded a different version of the song. It took 11 hours with a 20-minute break for lunch and was completed just an hour or so before the Prime Minister announced lockdown in the UK.

It’s a cry to God, saying we ‘turn to you,’ come and ‘heal’ and ‘save our land,’ and ‘show us your glory’. It’s such a weird time and I find myself lost for words at what is going on. I therefore decided to release it on YouTube for free as I wanted as many people as possible to share it and use it to help them express their hearts to God.

I asked people on social media if they’d be interested in sending in clips singing along to it, and had loads of people sending their clips in. There was a real sense of community about it and many people had a lot of fun doing it.

So far I’ve been told it’s been played and sung all over the world in countries such as Poland, Crete, Greece, Finland , Ivory Coast, South Africa, India, England and of course Wales! “

UK worship leader and recording artist Rob Westall is a former BBC journalist, focused these days on broadcasting the Good News of the Gospel through his music.

The prolific song-writer is head of worship at Gateway Church in South Wales, where his big sounding, upbeat anthems are regularly sung. He has also performed at many other churches, events and festivals including Creation Fest. His passion is to point people towards Jesus in all that he does and ultimately draw people closer to Him.

His critically acclaimed album ‘Born to Worship’ (released April 2019) strikes a chord with people of all ages and songs from the record along with his Christmas single ‘Saviour of the World,’ received airplay on BBC radio and various Christian stations in the US, UK and Ireland. It was also sung to over 1,000 people by a local school choir at their Christmas concerts. The album features ‘anthemic, uplifting, catchy contemporary’ worship songs, that help worshippers of all generations express their hearts to the Almighty.

Rob and his band were due to hit the road in 2020 but all bookings have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. As a result Rob Westall broadcasts live gigs and interviews with other Christian artists and guest every weekday night on his Facebook page for a show entitled: Social Distancing Live. He also leads worship to an average audience of more than 5,000 people via the Gateway Church Sunday Service.
