Casting Crowns have just released their latest live album 'Until The Whole World Hears Live, which is a two disc compilation including 8 audio tracks and a DVD with footage from their live gigs. The DVD was recorded at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina on 24th April 2010, with additional footage recorded at North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston.
Usually around this part of the review I would give a long summary of the bands career and previous albums, yet since Casting Crowns were our artist of the month for August I felt nothing else was needed to be said...

Usually around this part of the review I would give a long summary of the bands career and previous albums, yet since Casting Crowns were our artist of the month for August I felt nothing else was needed to be said here.
Seven of the eight tracks on this album were released on the 2009 studio album 'Until The Whole World Hears', which gained a mixed bag of reviews within the Christian media, personally for me I felt the album wasn't as strong as previous Casting Crowns albums, but had some interesting tracks.
The album recording, mixing and production is top quality, with each of these aspects showing us how great the band can sound. The vocals are strong and the mix between crowd noise and other instruments is well balanced, overall a good sound for a live album.
If you were a fan of the studio album you will love this package, but for me the biggest down side of this collection is the number of tracks. Part of me understands why the band just recorded tracks from their last album, as they have already released other live albums, I just maybe wanted something a bit more, maybe extra tracks or even to wait and release a greatest hits live album with these songs.
On the plus side I do feel some of the songs from the album sound better live, maybe it's the extra passion, the raw feeling that can come from live recordings, or maybe there is some extra edge in the way they come across, but If We've Ever Needed You definitely sounds stronger and more powerful. Opening title track Until The World Hears and Holy One sound heavier and rockier.
I do like Casting Crowns, and I can't wait to see the next step in the band's already long standing career. This album is recorded as good as any live album has been recorded and takes the best tracks from the studio album, reproducing them live.
