Ok so I normally get the chipmunk kids albums, the ones that somehow neither kids nor parents seem to enjoy yet we still subject our children to them in Churches. I am thrilled to inform you that this album is magnificent and not only did it appeal to my 3 and 5 year old, but that I too found it quite pleasing to the auditory canal! I am thrilled to inform you that this album is magnificent and not only did it appeal to my 3 and 5 year old, but that I too found it quite pleasing to the auditory canal! The album seems to be able to split into different categories, where some have more heavily male vocals and others female, with both groups having older and younger branches. It is refreshing to have such a wide range of tracks that has the potential to appeal to the whole of a children's department in a Church!
'Tell the world' is a more grown up track on the album, encouraging evangelism in the young in a wonderfully simplistic manner that puts us adults to shame.
'Supernatural' is another track that has lyrics for the slightly older age range "we can see miracles, you made me, you saved me Lord, you called me, you gave me Jesus, supernatural God", but the beat appeals beautifully to the little ones to dance to!
'Rainbow' - This track has a fun beat and uses lyrics in such a clever way where it reveals bible truths - "it's not made up, Jonah was in a whale; for three whole days" then the chorus is it's main gem appealing to the fascination of most young children "rainbows in the sky to show the world that he is the only way for your everyday". This is our daughter's favourite track and she picked up the words so easily that on the second run through she was singing along. I have to say that I am with her on this one!
'You're All I Need' - with the choirly children singing would normally have me running for the hills, but it is sung with such solemnity and with beautiful simplicity that even I can't complain.
'My Number One' - I personally don’t rate this one (hey one off the album isn't bad) but our three year old called this one the "funny song" and when I asked him to confirm that he didn't like he said, "no it's funny, I really like it".
This is such a wonderful compilation of children's songs, the young man of 32 to my right says, "why haven't we listened to this more; it's really good" which just demonstrates my point exactly this album is perfect for a family, these are songs that appeal to our little ones and allows for growth in faith and maturity.
I can't bring myself to award it full marks, but I seriously doubt that a children's album could ever top this one!
