Darlene Zschech and the Hillsong team have put together their 'It's Christmas' double-CD, featuring the re-release of previous Hillsong Christmas albums 'Christmas' and 'Celebrating Christmas' as one bumper album.
It's a real treat having a Christmas album to review actually at Christmas time; the tree is up, nativity plays have been performed and we even have snow gracing the ground so the festive spirit and the stressed feeling is well and truly in the Wood household!

I have mixed feelings about this double album; the strength (in my humble opinion) definitely lies in the live songs which alone is surprising as I am not usually a fan! It is not quite of the excitement level that I personally like for the decorating of the tree or for dancing around the room to with the children.
The Hillsong 'Christmas' album (not live version) reminds me heavily of opening Christmas presents with the outlaws, nothing wrong with it, but somehow lacking in that je ne sais quoi. However with all that in mind there are still some spectacular songs, traditional carols given a wonderful modern twist ('Joy To The World', 'Angels We Have Heard On High') and a wonderful haunting live instrumental version of 'O Come O Come Emmanuel'.
My Father in law would love this double album, but for me where did I put that Tomlin album...
