It was only a week ago in my Bethel Church 'Be Lifted High' review that I was saying how packed the live worship album arena is at the moment. I also said that the new Bethel album was up there in quality with some of the best live worship albums so far this year. Well, now you can add another release next to that list, the new Passion album Here For You is a top quality, high energy album that is extremely good.

Read More It was only a week ago in my Bethel Church 'Be Lifted High' review that I was saying how packed the live worship album arena is at the moment. I also said that the new Bethel album was up there in quality with some of the best live worship albums so far this year. Well, now you can add another release next to that list, the new Passion album Here For You is a top quality, high energy album that is extremely good.
This album was recorded live at the Passion 2011 conference in Atlanta at the start of January, with more than 20,000 university-aged students in attendance. The album features a collection of new songs from some of the people that have been working with Passion over the years, including Chris Tomlin, David Crowder*Band, Charlie Hall, Matt Redman, Christy Nockels and Kristian Stanfill.
If there is a series of albums that has a lot to live up to, the Passion collection is one of them.
The first song that jumped out at me was the version of the One Sonic Society song Forever Reign, led by the sensational Christy Nockels. I already think of this as a great worship song and this new account is very powerful - there is something amazing about hearing songs live in a worship setting instead of the usual studios versions.
Set Free is the closest you might get to the high-energy power-praise sound that you expect when Hillsong United, Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman join together. With the fast paced guitar rocking song, I'm sure you will be shouting along with the song: "Come on, Come on now, we get a new song, Come on, Come on now, a song of liberty, Let the world hear heaven's melody, this is a shout of your heart you set free".
David Crowder Band have two songs on this album Sometimes and the staggeringly awesome Shadows, the latter having the Hip Hop singer Lecrae adding his raps which is a bold move to add something different to this song, but it works amazingly, adding a freshness to the track. If anything it adds more energy with Lecrae really going for it on the song.
Here For You and Symphony, both led and sung by Chris Tomlin, start off atmospherically and build into big powerful anthems - Chris Tomlin doing what he does best. Within the albums title track Chris sings "You alone are Holy, only you are worthy, God let Your fire fall down". It's a song about letting God reign where you are and as the song continues "We welcome You in this place".
On a small side note, if you buy the Deluxe Edition of this album it includes extra videos and three additional tracks All To Us by Chris Tomlin, Constant by Charlie Hall and a new version of one of the most well known song of the moment, Chris Tomlin's Our God. The version seems to have more energy, with the orchestral start like on Chris' own album but with the addition of rapper Lecrae dueting with Chris. This again adds a different side to a song that has already been heard by a large number of people, this new version is high impacting and a strong addition to the album.
What I always like with the Passion releases is how they have different worship leaders who lead and sound very different. This helps the album to not sound 'samey', for example there is a big different in the style and sound of David Crowder Band and Matt Redman, both great artists but very different in style. The only negative part to this is that the album flow can sometimes get a little lost, but personally I don't think this album falls into that trap.
'Passion - Here For You' is another stunning live album release, if you enjoyed worshipping to the other releases from Passion you will love this new album with the same high energy adoration tracks sitting alongside the passionate heartfelt intimate worship songs. This album is well worth exploring.
