Recorded live at the 2011 National Vineyard UK Leadership Conference with 900 church leaders, My Soul Yearns is the new album from Vineyard Worship. The twelve track album was produced by Trevor Michael (Delirious?, crave, Phatfish) and Nigel Briggs (Trent), and mastered at Abbey Road studios by Geoff Pesche (Gorillaz, Athlete, Coldplay). It features worship leaders Samuel Lane (The Burn Band, All From You, Beautiful), Dave Miller, Joe Blustin and Carley Billingham (nee Orpen) (The Burn Band, All From You).

Where do you start with an album like this? If I was giving a quick oversight of this album it would have to be a statement along the lines of 'Songs for the local church to tell God how much He means to us'. The majority of the songs on this album speak of a desire to draw closer to God and when you put this album on I'm sure you know what you're going to get.
With so many different worship leaders appearing on this album, there is a sense of a few different styles, but for me the overall sound does tend to lean towards a similar sound and style to the last Hillsong United 'Aftermath' album. Mix that with classic Vineyard sound we have come to know and love from the last few Vineyard albums The Lamb has Conquered and Creator, and hopefully you will begin to get a picture of the sound of this album.
The opening title track sets the whole tone of the album within the first few bars and lyrics: "You're the God who loves, You're the Son that gives, You're the Spirit that moves, the reason that I live". This opening atmospheric heart cry is a stunning worship track. The beating Hear The Sound takes the intensity and tempo up an extra notch, with Jonny Grange and Nigel Briggs getting back to rock worship with clever chord changes to keep the rock worship sound fresh.
Adore Him is an elegant piano led song with a simple yet effective worshipful chorus of "Come, let us, adore Him". All the lyrics in this song are stunning, put these alongside the atmospheric and slightly haunting piano work and this is one of the strongest songs on the album. Sweetly Broken and Jesus You Reign see the mid tempo worship songs push the album forward.
This isn't an album that wants to be too in your face, these are a bunch of songs that invite you to use them in your times to worship God.
These twelve tracks are intimate songs that want to be used to draw you closer to God. As with the last few releases from Vineyard, this album is as good as any worship release from the last few years. Draw closer to God and embrace His love and what He has done for us. Amazing.
