The album this year comes as a two disc collection with the second disc featuring songs from the Momentum part of the event aimed at the 20's and 30's age group.
In simple terms, this album is just truly stunning, with track after track of amazing worship songs. The whole album captures the heart of the event so well, and you get a sense of what it is like to be there worshipping together.
The album opens with the two energetic tracks in Giving You My All and the Hillsong classic Go, setting the bar high for the rest of the album. But the album's title track Kingdom Come is where the album turns your head and makes you standup and take notice.
Kingdom Come is a brilliant song, a truly epic worship song, and I couldn't help but join in with the chorus, "Father let Your kingdom, Your will be done on earth". This song has an edge to it, a good edge, a dramatic edge, that oozes a hunger for God.
Appearing on this album is the brilliant Rend Collective Experiment with two of their own songs, Build Your Kingdom Here and You Are My Vision. Rend Collective have grafted hard over the last few years, bringing a fresh modern folk sound to worship, getting people dancing and worshipping with these stunning songs which first appeared on their own album, 'Homemade Worship for Handmade People'.
Another track worthy of a mention is the simple yet stunning SS version of 'Forever Reign'. The track was written by One Sonic Society and Hillsong and has been covered by what seems like everybody. But actually this version for me is one of the best versions of the song I have heard. The vocals of Beth Croft just seem to perfectly fit this song, and she sounds amazing singing it. The song builds up in the right places, starting off with very few instruments and then bursts into an amazing time of worship.
One of the stand out moments of the second CD is a new version of the Rend Collective classic You Bled. This track is one of my favorite songs of the last few years, it means a lot to me personally, but the band have given this epic anthem an even more modern make over. The conclusion is, it sounds stunning, if not better than before. The song keeps the passion and rawness of its original version, but is taken to a whole new level. It might be even more folk than it's original version, I think it's all in the drums.
I do really like the track-listing of the second CD, I love the track 'Now Is The Time For Us' which sounds brilliant, as does the version of the amazing Ben Cantelon track 'New Day'.
I'm not sure why, but this album took a while to grow on me. I really can't put my finger on it. But after a few listens, I just got lost in the time of worship from Soul Survivor. After listening a few times, the worship songs took my mind back to being in that muddy field, the smells, the sounds, the joy, the times of teaching and preaching, the times of just being in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. It really made me miss Soul Survivor. If you were one of the people who went to the event, then this CD is a must, but if you didn't go and are looking for an album that captures live worship at it's best, then this offering is a must.
