Read More British composer and artist Adrian Snell, known for his blending of classic and rock in thematic works like 'The Passion' and 'The Virgin', has launched a crowdfunding campaign for a 30th Anniversary Recording of one of his other signature projects: 'Alpha & Omega'. It is the first such campaign for Snell, who celebrates four decades in music and is currently a music therapist in Bath, UK.
The crowdfunding campaign will run its course until August 30th, 2016. Contributors will have exclusive access to never before heard live recordings from 30 years ago, study guides for the music and personal 'meet & greets' with Snell, which include unique online choir-coachings.
In October, Snell will visit the Netherlands for a string of performances that will lay the foundation of what will become a re-recording of the 1986 original 'Alpha & Omega'. The album is considered a classic as it not only incorporated choirs into a rock opera opus; it also explored spirituality in light of the world's conflicts and tragedies; in particular World War II and the Holocaust.
'Alpha & Omega' was followed by the poignant album 'Song of an Exile' that further explored the roots of faith in light of mankind's darkest hours. Songs from both projects were performed live by Snell in the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem. He is one of the few artists in history to have been granted this opportunity. 'Alpha & Omega' is still performed by choirs to this day.
During the upcoming 'Alpha & Omega' concerts, Adrian will be joined by a 60-piece choir (The Choir Company) and full band which includes key players from the 1986 recording: Dave Bainbridge (Piano, Keyboards, Programming, Arranging) and David Fitzgerald (Flute, Saxophone). Dave and David met during an early 'Alpha & Omega' tour and went on to found the band IONA. Other players on the new recording will include current IONA drummer Frank van Essen, Peter van Essen (Flute, Violin), Elisa Krijgsman (guitar) and Mark Dekker (Bass).
