"Whenever a broken object is fixed with the materials local to that broken object, you'd call that a 'native repair'. For instance, let’s say you’re camping and one of your tent stakes snaps in half. How do you fix it? If you’re feeling resourceful, you might find a small stick and shape it to a size that roughly matches the other stakes -- at that point, you just made a native repair.
For me, songwriting has always been a very therapeutic way to process this crazy world that we’ve all found ourselves in. That’s why the term “native repair” seemed fitting for this project. When life dishes out bumps and bruises, sometimes the closest fix and the best fix are the same thing. Each of these 4 songs represents an area of my life that takes up a great deal of real estate. For me, writing songs about them is the best way to process and live with them.
Creating this project as The Native Repair has been like no other project I’ve ever been a part of! These songs have been my babies from beginning to end. This includes songwriting, tracking, producing, mixing, and mastering. I got to make the call on every creative decision and I personally did all of the vocal harmonies and played every instrument on this project."
