This profoundly moving collection heralds a new chapter for Jessica, showcasing a powerful blend of genres and her fervent dedication to her faith.
For Jessica, worship is an act of daily surrender to God. Her EP is a heartfelt response to who Jesus is and what He has done for humanity. "Sharing my faith and journey with Jesus through lyrics and song is a great privilege," she says. The songs on this EP are deeply personal, stemming from a period during COVID-19 when Jessica spent significant time in prayer, Bible study, and journaling. "Many song inspirations came from that season in my life where we had to surrender all to Jesus and trust in Him fully," she reflects.
The EP features collaborations with several talented artists and musicians. Jessica teamed up with multi-award winning artist Loyiso Bala for the track "Keep My Eyes On You," where Loyiso's relaxed R&B style added a unique vibe. "His experience and relaxed character made it so easy. He’s kind, fun, friendly, and so talented," she shares.
The production was led by Neil Engel, who co-wrote the EP and brought his extensive knowledge as a musician and producer, incorporating new jazzy and orchestral sounds. Engel played a crucial role in selecting the best musicians for the EP, including Evert Van Niekerk on violin, Kenny Williams on drums, Earl Breezy on bass, Ray Green on lead and acoustic guitar, Howie Combrink on additional electric guitar, and Neil Engel himself on piano and keys.
“Collaborating with other believers brought new perspectives and experiences to the EP, enhancing its spiritual and emotional depth,." says Jessica. "These are all very anointed and talented musicians," Jessica notes. The backing vocals were provided by the award winning group, The Jesus Collective, adding further depth to the worship experience. “Each musician brought their own anointing and talent, making me very emotional as my songs came to life."
Jessica filmed the music videos in her favourite city, Cape Town, surrounded by nature's beauty. "I always feel so close to Jesus in the mountains, beaches, and breathtaking sceneries God created," she says. Each video was meticulously planned to reflect the strong message of its corresponding song.
The lyrics of the EP are deeply rooted in the Bible, emphasising that the gospel is centered on Jesus Christ. "It’s all about Him. He is the centre of it all, and He just wants you to open up your heart to Him," Jessica explains. She hopes that her songs will resonate with listeners, helping them feel Jesus' presence and His never-ending love.
Jessica Dalla Torre's "The Gospel Is Jesus" is a testament to her faith and dedication, offering listeners a powerful and heartfelt worship experience.
