Okay so I am a bit of a cynic, I expected this to be cringe worthy in the hiding behind the settee way and hoping (or should that be praying) that it would be over soon, but I have to admit that I was wrong. The music on this DVD is actually very good and so refreshing to have English accents on children's music. Classically there are songs that you prefer, but there is a distinct lack of ones that you reach for the skip button on.

I am not one for sticking my children in front of the box or children's worship songs for that matter and it is hard to say at what age this DVD is aimed at as the dancing and singing groups are of mixed ages, but those in the audience appear to be of 4-8 ish (I usually judge children's ages in height, so I am not necessarily accurate on this one!)
Visually I was less than impressed, the studio was poorly lit and the dancing gang were ineffective to hold my attention (I used the time to catch up on the papers.) The puppets are a nice touch but in this day and age I am ashamed to admit that I wanted bright colours and the odd flashing simple single image.
As I said I am not easily impressed, but the talent of young 13 year old Joel Barber (one to watch out for in the future) really shines through and I have found myself singing "My God is Big" all week and even Dave looked up from his laptop during this very able lad's songs to find out who was singing. My 2 year old asked for Great Big God from the moment I put the DVD on - I did end up skipping to it to cheer him up and that was a big hit, my 4 year old daughter jumped up and began to imitate the moves pretty well considering they were different to those at our Church and bless her brother he was copying her!
The DVD was not able to hold the attention of my duo even with the excitement of "we're allowed to watch something" being shouted, I do believe that the main reason that they sat still long enough was because they were eating an apple and they have to sit down to eat!
This is the first time that I have come across the Great Big God gang and am sorely tempted to invest in a tune or two although I am not sure whether they will be more for my benefit or the children's!
Our daughter was impressed with 'My God is Big', although our son holds firm to 'Great Big God' and said that he was scared of the "green lady" as she was "very loudy".
