I have to confess that I had not heard of Glenn Packiam, before I reviewed this CD, though that could be understandable as this is his first solo debut album, he is however one of the founding leaders and songwriters for the Desperation Band, and is featured on some of their albums. Read More I have to confess that I had not heard of Glenn Packiam, before I reviewed this CD, though that could be understandable as this is his first solo debut album, he is however one of the founding leaders and songwriters for the Desperation Band, and is featured on some of their albums. Glenn is currently the director of New Life School of Worship and an Associate Worship Pastor at New Life Church in Colorado, he is also an author of a couple of books. So unless you go to New Life Church, read one of his books or an avid fan of the Desperation Band I guess you would not have heard of him too, but enough of the bio lets get onto the review of the album.
Rumors and Revelations starts great with a powerful sounding song called This is Our God, My Saviour lives follows, and is also a good song, however the album seems to be all the same style and sound, whilst some people may like the same style for worship or like the same style to listen to, I prefer a mixture of styles and a mixture of different sounds that flow together. Though I will say for a debut album it is good, and Glenn does say that this album and his new book are twin expressions of the same journey, so maybe one will experience and greater journey through the album whilst reading his book Secondhand Jesus as he also says that many of the songs unintentionally correspond with the themes of certain chapters, so it is nice to see in a album a journey of the artist and this may go well hand in hand with his book and I am sure that this album relates personally with him and his journey through that part of his life and im sure that this may touch many people going through the same things as Glenn and touch them in different ways.
As I have said the album starts well, it's a very beginning middle and end album, meaning it has a good beginning, middle song and end song, but then end of the album is a reading of chapter 1 of his book Secondhand Jesus, which I don't think I would listen to if I wanted to listen to music, as it sounds like a audiobook, though for another time maybe, but maybe Glenn isn't after a huge album or to become a big artist. I think after reading about Glenn this album Is a Journey.
