The independent artist from the Pacific Northwest, originally from Los Angeles, has lived in both Oregon and Washington state. Josef brings a passionate raw sound that is a gritty testimonial to the CHH culture. His music reflects the street life but always points the discussion towards salvation.
Born to teenage parents in Los Angeles, CA, music played an integral part in Josef’s life. Growing up and moving around a lot, he had the opportunity to experience all types of music: from George Clinton, Zapp and Roger, and Parliament, to George Michael, Hall & Oates, and Guns and Roses. Hip Hop always had a special place in his heart. The men in those tapes filled a void missing. Slick Rick, Ice Cube, X-Clan, NWA, Public Enemy, TheWu Tang Clan, Slick Rick, BDP, and many more would all take at turns raising a young man whose father was no longer in the picture.
Josef wanted to be an emcee for as long as he could remember. Growing up poor, he dreamed of being able to buy his family a big house they could all live in.
He was close to his dream at 18 years old when he signed a record deal with an independent Portland Record Company. However, he was on the run from the law and would never get the chance to promote his freshman album.
After being delivered from life in prison, Josef forsook his life and chose to follow Jesus Christ. After he asked God if he was too old and if should still rap. The Lord asked, "Why do you do it?" Josef thought about it briefly and replied “Because, I love it.” The Lord said, “Well, as long as you love it, you can do it for the rest of your life."
