For those who haven't heard of Sincere Praise before, can you tell us a bit about it and how you started out?
I started singing at a very young age as a little girl, my father was a minister of the Gospel and travelled to many countries around the world, in our family there are 5 siblings and in the summer holidays along with my mother our father would take us to Scandanavia with him for 6 weeks and before he got up to preached he would as us to come forward and sing as we sung as a family together. My brother Dennis Greenidge who is now a Pastor of our church accompanied us by playing the accordion, after we sung I would sing a solo.
As time went on our Church world wide mission was formed my father was the Pastor, as a result many youth were saved by us going out on the streets and witnessing the good news and out of that a choir was formed which was called "Youth Aflame" my older sister Rosemary Taylor who is now a Pastor led the choir at that time.
As time went on the batten as it were was handed to me to become the director of the choir now known as "Sincere Praise" and from there on it has been a wonderful journey spreading the Gospel around the world through song.
Tell us about your new album 'Highest Praise' and what the inspiration behind it was?
Highest praise album songs came about around the month of August 2019 scriptures of the bible were becoming songs to me early hours of the morning it was incredible!!! And as they came I got up recorded them. It was amazing that God gave me all the songs in 2019 as I had no idea what we would be facing as a nation this year, I couldn't quite understand why he gave me certain verses from the bible then either. I now understand songs he gave me such as "Trust in the lord", "Emmanuel" meaning God is with us, "God is in the details", "Give God the Highest praise", "On your word I believe". These songs have become even more such a part of me daily understanding that amidst all that we are faced with in this trying time God is with us and all we have to do is totally trust him and believe on his word allowing him to be in every detail of our lives and in so doing we can give him the highest praise.
How would you describe your style of music and what are your influences?
Our style of music is contemporary Gospel music and the message sent out is the Gospel message of salvation (influence) people can come to know him and receive him as their personal saviour and in so doing the wonderful things that can be experienced such as a new life hope, Joy, peace satisfaction and the list goes on.
If you could work with any songwriter, who would it be and why?
Darlene Zschech - I find her songs and music inspiring and very uplifting
How would you define success in your career as an artist?
I believe the gifts God has given to us are to be used for him and him alone and without him I could do nothing all I have gained is through him so as long as he lends me breath I will continue to do what he has called me to to do and that is to sing for him knowing he alone gets ALL THE GLORY!!!
What is your favourite album of all time?
There are several artist that I thoroughly enjoy but I think the very special music that I hold close is the artist and songs from the early years such a Evie Tornquist Karlsson singing "Praise the lord he never changes", Andre Crouch "Take me back" and the Winans "Bring back the days of yea & nea".
What does the next year hold for you?
Next year look forward to doing what I love and enjoy the most travelling taking the gospel in song to as many countries as possible and writing more songs.
