The Escape are a four piece band hailing from Burton, who over the last two years have been leading worship at many churches across The Midlands.
The band are from the indie rock school of sound, in a similar style and stance to Superhero and Electralyte. The songs are written by Alistair Goodhead and guitarist Philip Clay who have both written songs that have worship lyrics melted with indie rock sounds.
The four track CD, which is called Urgency EP, opens with driving guitars on The Urgency which sum up its title. The track is brilliant, an honest call asking God to change our hearts to have an urgency for what God cares about. Next up is Glory to God which is a worship ballad that shows a different side to this band and proves the musical diversity of this young group.
Our Joy builds into a fantastic, positive, uplifting praise song, with lyrics to get us jumping and dancing with joy. The EP ends with another ballad in How Can I which has another well written chorus that you will be able to sing along with.
The Escape are not just another contemporary indie rock worship band, they are a band with a message, great songwriting, interesting drums, bass and driving guitars. This EP could be the starting platform for the next step for The Escape.
