For those who haven’t heard of you before, can you tell us a bit about yourselves and how you got involved in making music?
We’re HOMECOMING-a collective of worship leaders, musicians, and creatives from across British Columbia and Alberta. Most of us are involved in local churches, and we’ve all been making music in some form for years-whether it’s leading worship, producing, or playing in bands. HOMECOMING started out of a desire to write honest, Spirit-filled music that connects with this generation in a language they understand. It all started from a few writing sessions and worship nights, and it just kept growing.
Tell us about your new single ‘THROUGH IT ALL’ and what the inspiration behind it was?
‘THROUGH IT ALL’ is about clinging to God in the hardest moments. It came from a season where some of us were going through serious challenges - doubt, anxiety, burnout, and loss. We wanted to write something that didn’t ignore the pain but pointed straight to the faithfulness of Jesus in the middle of it. It’s not a victory-after-the-storm song-it’s a declaration in the storm. We hope it meets people right where they are and lifts their eyes to the One who never leaves.
Do you have any plans to release more music in the near future?
Yes-big time. We’re aiming to release a new single every 6 to 8 weeks. We’ve got a pipeline of songs we’re really excited about, and we’re in the process of prepping an EP. Some tracks are more congregational, some are more personal, and some are just creatively fun-but all of them are built around a desire to draw people closer to God.
What message would you like people to take from your music?
That Jesus is enough. Our prayer is that people would hear our songs and be reminded that God is present, powerful, and deeply personal. Whether you’re in a mountaintop season or a valley, we want to remind you that the love of Christ is unshakable-and He is worthy of our worship in every moment.
How would you describe your style of music and what are your influences?
We’d describe our sound as “modern worship with an emo kid past and dad rock in the trunk.†Some of us grew up leading worship, others were cutting our teeth in the emo scene or playing breakdowns in metalcore bands. One or two of us still crank Switchfoot and Creed unironically. We pull a lot of inspiration from artists like Bethel Music, Jeremy Riddle, Starfield (shoutout Canada), Hillsong Y&F, and LANY-but also from Jon Bellion, Coldplay, and whatever alt-rock record your youth pastor was playing in 2009. So basically, if you imagine Starfield leading worship in skinny jeans with some ambient synth and a few power chords-we’re somewhere in there.
If you could work with any songwriter, who would it be and why?
Jeremy Riddle. No one blends reverence, rawness, and revival like him. His songwriting has shaped a generation, and we think what he carries would deeply resonate with our heart and sound.
How would you define success in your career as an artist?
For us, success isn’t about numbers or platforms-it’s about obedience. If our music draws people into the presence of God, if it helps someone find words in their pain, or if it reminds a worship leader they’re not alone-then we’re succeeding. Of course, we’d love to play big stages and reach more people, but our win is always faithfulness to what God’s asked us to do.
What is your favorite album of all time?
There are too many different people on the team to agree on one favorite-we’ve got a wide range of tastes. But if we had to pick a favorite worship album as a band, it’s probably Tides Live by Bethel Music. That project captured something raw and real, and it definitely shaped a lot of how we think about worship.
You’re stuck on an island, it’s hot, you only have enough battery life left to listen to one song on your phone. What track is it?
Higher by Creed. No question. If we’re going out, we’re going out with arms wide open and our souls soaring into the stratosphere. Plus, Scott Stapp’s voice echoes beautifully off palm trees-we checked.
What does the next year hold for you?
We’re building. More singles, more content, hopefully some live worship nights, and definitely lots of writing. We’re investing in our visuals, growing on social media, and building a community around the songs. Long-term, we want to be a voice for the next generation of worshippers in Canada and beyond. The mission is clear: Jesus at the centre, always.
