Steve has just released his latest 6 track EP Raging Desire which is a collection of songs that he has written over the last two decades. The EP opens with the track Your Prayer, which took me by surprise as the track has a chill-out dance feel to it, something I wasn’t expecting. Second track Heavenly Father has a very catchy chorus and I can see this being picked up quickly by congregations. Two creative tracks to start this EP with the latter being a great song, though is long at six minutes and 30 seconds.
The songs on this EP have a similar style to music written by people like Noel Richards, Kathryn Scott and Stuart Townend. Irresistible Love is a soft acoustic song with some nice soft vocals and interesting guitar work.
The last track on the EP Worthy of Praise was originally written by Steve in 1990, the live recording on this EP appeared on an album called You Are My Rock by Frontline Church. It is a great recording of the song as sometimes live recordings don't fully capture everything, but this track does and you can hear the full sound of people singing and all the instruments. The title track Raging Desire is in the acoustic worship genre and has some beautiful chord changes, the lyrics being inspired by Song of Solomon chapter 8, verses 6-7, again personally the songs for me was long at over 6 minutes.
All profits from the sale of this EP are being donated towards international projects supported by Steve Barrie's church, which is a great thing to hear. This EP was put together by someone who cares greatly about worship and is using his gifts to help others, great stuff.
