Now the band have just release this three track EP named The Advice EP. A full length album is expected soon, and after listening to this collection of songs, this is well worth waiting for.
The best way to describe this release would have to be Pop/Soul overlaid with a hint of Rock. The opening track Your Light Shines has a summer mood to it, it even opens with a trumpet to start proceedings. If you thought the start had a summer happy pop feel to it then once the chorus kicks in you know you're ready for that summer party. The band sing "Do you know what your light shines to? You can't hide a light that shines through, Would you leave this world behind?, Will you find you find that your light still shines?" The bridge even makes reference to the old Sunday school song, 'This little light' with the lyrics of "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine, This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine".
Forever Changed is probably the most mid tempo pop track of the three, for me it was a solid song, but nothing that jumped out at me like the opening track did. We then move swiftly back to the more soulful tune Your Love Sets Me Free which was the band's first independent release and I can easily see and hear why this was well received with a family friendly sound in the same essence as artists like Mat Kearney, Brandon Heath and Jason Gray.
If this EP is a small glimpse of the album to come, then the promise is definitely exciting for The Advice. I would like to see how they cope with releasing a ten track album with maybe a few different styles, but this band know how to do soulful rock and they do it well.
