The band are from Nashville and released their debut self titled EP back in 2006. It would seem that this is one of those bands who seem to tour and record, tour and record - grafting at creating a fan base. With this new release, The Peace of Wild Things, the band are now ready for the masses.
The three piece are made up of Chad Howat, J.T. Daly & Gavin McDonald and have toured with Switchfoot, Mutemath and Owl City, so you may already have seen them live in a support slot with some of the biggest touring bands around.
So let's get back to the music, and Love Letters has a very Arcade Fire sound to it with some clever synth sounds underlaid in the solid and creative drum work. Two Hearts has a more pop feel it it, not that I'm saying this is a bubblegum pop number, but it's the type of track that you can imagine radio picking up with it's catchy chorus.
'Glass Heart Hymn' is a truly epic piece of music, and at first I thought it sounded a bit like the theme to the 80's classic TV show AirWolf. The song stays on a low radar with an exciting dance beat and some wonderful vocals adding to an interesting creative tune.
The piano rings out beautifully in the track Sugar, and again this track shows how creative this band can be. They don't just let the piano and vocals do the work, this band actually try and do something new with a piano ballad and it works well on this stand out track. You And I moves back more to the radio friendly kind of song, with another chorus that is very catchy.
This album seems to mix together creative songs that are a bit more interesting, another example of this is Letting You Let Go which uses some great dance beats and sounds that are powerful and also wonderful to listen to time and time again. The same could be said for the amazing Rabbit Holes, this winding style of musical number is one of those songs where you don't know where it came from but are glad you got to listen to. This song would give Radiohead a run for its money in musical creativity.
By crawling the internet I have managed to find an album and a band that I am now a massive fan of. This album from Paper Route mixes together great radio pop songs with intriguing tracks that indie rock fans will love. Please check out this hard working band, I'm sure you will know someone who likes this kind of music. This is Alt Rock at it's creative best.
