One of the highlights of catchy opening track 'Sing As If The First Time' is the great drumming, and also how the band work so well together. This song continues the sound we have come to know from the band, and if you liked their previous album you will love this EP. The band haven't stood still, if anything this sound has a more mature feel to it. "And I'll sing as if the first time, And I will lift my voice loud, As if I have nothing else to give, As if I have nothing else to give." With this song I found myself singing that chorus during the day, even when I wasn't even listening to the EP. That is a sign of a good song.
'River' is another instant hit. This song is much more of a ballad style than the opening track and the standout feature of this track is the spine tingling vocals. I just love the sound.
One of my favorite songs by a long shot on the EP is the brilliant and tender 'Hold Me Close'. The whispered vocals and lovely guitar tone makes this song a beautiful heart warming gem of a track. "You can make me whole, Your eyes see everything, forgive me again, forgive me again, You unlock my soul, Love burns inside of me, I'm living again, living again". I could listen to these words over and over and not get bored.
'Blue Skies' is a bit of a funky acoustic number. The tempo of the EP is lifted and the sound moves towards a jazz club sound. What is great about this song is the lyrics and it's theme. Have a listen to this one on a summers day drive around the country and it will bring a smile to your face.
"I'll be here to catch your years, I'll be here to banish your fears... Calm your soul, calm your soul" is the wonderful lyrics to closing track "Calm Your Soul". This song is such a great track for the busy world we live in, and was the perfect song for me during a stressful time in work. The smooth vocals and soft music is the closest the band have come to making the perfect song.
'Trust' is a wonderful collection of songs. The band have really stepped up with this release and we at LTTM are proud to be able to offer it to you as a free download. A Great EP.
