First track 'Light A Flame' opens with a lovely sounding guitar. This song gradually builds with the verses, setting the platform for the epic melodic chorus. For me it's Jonathan's gritty yet rich vocal that really takes this exciting track to a new level. Once those vocal tones kick in the whole Jonathan Miller sound is complete.
'Come let us worship' is a slightly slower tempo song to the opening track, but the passionate vocals are still coming through. "Come let us worship him, let all creation sing" is the cry of the chorus. This song is for anybody to use in their own time of personal worship and it's definitely one for the local church worship teams to get their teeth into.
There is always added pressure on a song if it's the album title and with King of All it took a while for it to grow on me. But once I got into the song and listened to it's beautiful chorus, it soon become a favourite. There is a real sense of the majesty of God in the lyrics of this song.
We then move into 'Open Up The Heavens'. As the album progresses there are a few times I thought Mr Miller had a gritty voice, yet on this intimate worship track, Jonathan shows diversity in his vocals. There is a sweet and pure feel to his voice on this track, and the same could be said for the slightly more uptempo 'Thirsty'.
'This Is Our King' at times feels like a modern hymn in the same vain as the classic song 'In Christ Alone'. The album then ends with 'More Than Enough', which lifts the tempo of the album, and is a great way to end a great set of songs.
Jonathan Miller has put together a collection of songs that takes the listener on a journey of the different characteristics of God. There are many standout moments, but for me it's the quality of Jonathan's vocals in some of the powerful worship songs that really grabbed my attention. As a mini album this is well worth looking out for. A top quality debut.
