Double Grammy Nominations For Cody Carnes, We The Kingdom, Tauren Wells & Ricky Dillard

Nov 25 2020

The nominations for the 63rd GRAMMY Awards were announced yesterday by the Recording Academy. The 2021 Grammy Award winners will be announced at the ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 31 2021. In The Christian and Gospel categories, there were two nominations for Cody Carnes, We The Kingdom, Tauren Wells and Ricky Dillard.

Worship leader and songwriter Cody Carnes was honored with his first GRAMMY Award nominations receiving two nods for his work this year. He received a nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for his studio album, Run To The Father, which features popular worship songs "Nothing Else," "Christ Be Magnified," and the title track. Carnes was also nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for "The Blessing (Live)."

"I’m so unbelievably honored by these nominations and so grateful that these songs have resonated with people in such a special way this year," shares Cody Carnes on his nominations. "I pray that these nominations mean that the songs have brought the hope of Jesus to people in such a fearful time. What a joy it is to create music for that purpose."

On the heels of a Dove Award win for “New Artist of the Year,” multigenerational family band We The Kingdom earned the first GRAMMY nods of their career. Their eight-week chart-topper, “Holy Water,” was nominated for “Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song,” and their debut full-length album, Holy Water, received a nod for “Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.”

Eight-time GRAMMY nominee and platinum-selling artist Tauren Wells was nominated for two GRAMMY awards - Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance for “Famous For (I Believe),” and Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for Citizen of Heaven.

“I am absolutely stunned with the news of being recognized for two GRAMMY nominations from The Recording Academy,” Tauren says. “Everyone that contributed to the Citizen of Heaven album is so deserving of this honor and I’m humbled to be a part of such a poignant album and message. I’m so grateful!”

A pioneer of contemporary choir music, Ricky Dillard, and his soulful choir earns a GRAMMY nod for Best Gospel Performance/Song for their breakout anthem of the year, "Release (Live)." The song reached number one on both the BDS Gospel Airplay Charts and the Mediabase Published Gospel Chart. Released in May, Dillard's aptly titled album Choirmaster also receives a nomination in the Best Gospel Album category.
