Scotland's David Lyon Releases 'Love Like No Other'

May 12 2021

David Lyon is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the West of Scotland. His new album, 'Love Like No Other', is a compelling collection of original songs and reimagined hymns and his sixth solo project. Fusing Celtic folk and Americana sensibilities, David's skilfully crafted pianobased songs are resonant with melodic beauty and rich in poetic depth.

Always honest and from the heart, he expresses timeless and familiar themes in fresh ways with hope and vulnerability, echoing the cries of the Church throughout generations. In uncertain and unprecedented times, when global confidence is shaken by a brutal and unforeseen pandemic, his faith and belief in an immovable and embracing love is evident from the title track:

Love in the darkness and the dawn
Love unconditional that calls us to belong

Love Like No Other was recorded remotely in studios across Scotland, in Valencia and in Nashville with a group of gifted and trusted contributors. David's wife, Yvonne Lyon, features as a guest vocalist on four tracks, lending her own distinctive and ethereal voice to complement his vocals elsewhere. The album is eclectic and dynamic, ranging from the anthemic and upbeat declaration of My Redeemer Lives to the tender and heartbreakingly emotive Not My Will.

David's songs regularly feature on BBC Radio and he has recorded live studio sessions for Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4 and Radio Scotland. He has performed extensively throughout the UK, Europe, the USA and Canada at a variety of venues and at UK festivals and conferences including Greenbelt, Spring Harvest, Keswick, New Wine and Celtic Connections.

"absolutely beautiful... that is just perfection, loved that very much" - Clare Balding, BBC Radio 2
