Husband & Wife Folk Duo The Goudies Release Debut EP 'When This Is Over'

Jul 27 2021

'When This Is Over' is the debut EP from husband and wife folk duo - The Goudies (GOW-dees). Recorded with just a single microphone in a room, the songs are an honest reflection on a time when everything was stripped away and we found the things that matter.

This three song collection is the perfect introduction to the depth, honesty, and warmth of The Goudies’ songwriting. The intimate performance and simple arrangements allow the songs to breathe. Here you’ll find close harmonies, warm guitars, and words that stay with you long after you listen.

The Goudies (GOW-dees) are husband and wife folk duo - Sam and Beth Goudie. As singers and songwriters they explore the relationship of love, faith, and the spaces in between - always ending in hope.

During the first lockdown of 2020, Beth and Sam wrote When This Is Over in response to the clarity of purpose and hope they felt in light of the stripping back of everything we held for granted.

They started a weekly live stream (Tiny Show Tuesday) for their friends from their home, playing new songs and country covers - and finally decided to bring their solo projects together to form The Goudies.

Whilst The Goudies is a new project, Sam & Beth have both been well received as solo musicians. Individually they have both been featured as BBC Wales Artist of the week (Sam as Elephant & Soldier) and been played on BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music, and local stations. They have also supported acclaimed artists such as Amy Wadge, Alfie Boe, and Jesca Hoop.

This the first release from the Goudie’s own label - Morning Chorus Records, and is accompanied by an intimate video performance of each song, shot in the studio during production.
