Kardia Complex Releases Debut Single 'Come All You Weary'
Freshly formed Kardia Complex has released their debut single “Come All You Weary” on August 1, 2021. The single will be the first fans have heard since Jamie Kucinski, former drummer for XIII Minutes and longtime Tulsa area event promoter, began to share his vision for a new kind of worship band.
“As I have created the origins of this project, I knew I wanted to tell a story,” Jamie shares. “This song is the beginning of the story. I would call this Chapter I - Come All You Weary. The song is our introduction, but is also an open door invitation.”
It’s an invitation that is particularly timely and compelling. “When I look around, I see and feel a tired world,” Jamie continues. “We're constantly being bombarded with messages of how we are simply not enough. Fame, success, looks: they are all moving targets. Even for all my cultural resilience, I get tired. I know there are many more like me. They are on this life's journey tired and looking for rest.”
The beauty in the song lies in its gentle nudge towards a solution: “In all that I do, there will be problem/solution format. Come all you weary, and find rest for your soul.”
The song’s unique rock and worship fusion was crafted in careful collaboration between musicians who all felt moved by the same call to unique community. That lineup included Larry Worley (Fear Not), Cody Lee (Brightside Flight) and Aaron Smith (XIII Minutes).
“I knew I wanted Larry's voice on this track and also his experience. Fortunately, that was able to happen,” Jamie says as he looks back on assembling his own dream team for Chapter I of Kardia Complex. “I met Cody 5 years ago and was always impressed by his voice. I would describe it as tinged with a bit of post-hardcore influence. Part of my overarching theme for this project is this idea of connection, taking things that are seemingly random and showcasing how interwoven they are. I think we accomplished that with Cody and Larry. Their voices weave together beautifully.”
For the final player, Jamie drew on the talents of his former bandmate. “I've always said this about Aaron: he has the ability to take something really good and simply make it better,” Jamie says simply.
The resulting track has all the power of a Spirit-breathed synergy, introducing the unique vision of Kardia Complex with clear resonance between the music’s form and the lyrical content. “Come All You Weary” is the first of several singles, installments that Jamie plans to release much like chapters of one over-arching story. More musicians are already falling into place to collaborate on the coming chapters.
“It takes a little bit more thought during the process but the intellectual challenge makes things interesting,” Jamie concludes. “My hope is that I can tie the listener into the story, that they can see themselves in the listening journey.”
