Christian Girl Group Gospel X Release 'Anointed'

Aug 20 2021

Christian girl group, Gospel X, released their second single 'Anointed' on April 2nd 2021. After the abundance of support they received from their debut single 'Control' in August 2020, the group, consisting of members Temi Boye (20), Joy Bakare (19), and Naomi Bakare (17), released their second single 'Anointed' in April 2021.

Being encouraged by Stella Bakare, worship leader and mother of sisters Joy and Naomi Bakare, the group was formed in 2015 at their local Church, Life Church, Chelmsford. With strong support from their church, they were able to grow their confidence through annual concerts, through which the church’s consistent generosity helped fund the group’s vision. They also competed in the Grand Final of renown singing competition Open Mic UK at the O2, placing 4th in the country.

“‘Anointed is an R&B song with a gospel message, inspired by Neo-Soul, which portrays being at a point of recognition in life, realising how far we have come, and thus looking back to our past and how we used to be before we let God into our lives and our hearts,” shares Temi about the upcoming release, “It is therefore about being renewed in the presence of God whenever we feel we are being dragged back to that past, and the song emphasises the power of faith in eliciting change, hoping to inspire and encourage those who listen.”

This new single was produced by Adeika, the brother of Temi, who has his own large following on Soundcloud, and was vital in bringing the vision for this song to life and producing the vibe they wanted.

Gospel X are looking forward to celebrating the release of their new single with appearances at various events which they have been invited to perform at in the remainder of the year. They are currently putting together plans for another project, for which the release date is yet to be announced.
