2022 GRAMMY Award Wins For CeCe Winans and Elevation Worship & Maverick City Music

Apr 04 2022

CeCe Winans was the big winner at the 2022 GRAMMY Awards in the Christian & Gospel categories, winning 3 of the 4 awards. She won Best Gospel Performance/Song for 'Never Lost' and Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song and Best Gospel Album for 'Believe For It'.

In the Best Contemporary Christian Music Album category the winner was 'Old Church Basement' by Elevation Worship & Maverick City Music.

The 2022 GRAMMYs Awards show, officially known as the 64th GRAMMY Awards, took place last night, Sunday April 3, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Multi-platinum super group Maverick City Music made a very special performance of their No. 1 smash hit 'Jireh' from the top of the MGM Grand.

Of the win, co-founder of Maverick City Music Tony Brown says, “Maverick City Music started with a dream to make the most segregated hour in America, Sunday mornings, an ancient past time. Breaking barriers by being nominated in every inspirational GRAMMY category is only the beginning. The empowerment of every unlikely voice is what’s next for Maverick City.”

Upon receiving their award, Chris Brown of Elevation Worship - joined by both Elevation Worship and Maverick City Worship - shared from the stage, "I will never forget that little basement where this beautifully wild season between our two groups began. This has been the most amazing thing watching our two ministries create something together that we could've never created separately."

The awards were presented yesterday live in Las Vegas by The Recording Academy for the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards. As the only peer-selected music accolade, the GRAMMY Awards are voted on by the Recording Academy's voting membership body of music makers who represent all genres and creative disciplines, including recording artists, songwriters, producers, mixers, and engineers. This year's winners were voted on by Recording Academy voting members from nearly 22,000 eligible entries and reflect the wide range of artistic innovations that defined the year in music (Sept. 1, 2020-Sept. 30, 2021).
