David E. Johnson Jr Releases 'Shake Em Off' Extended Version
David E. Johnson Jr, based in Memphis, TN, has released his latest single titled "Shake Em Off (feat. 1K Phew) [Extended Version]".
"This song was birthed after many years of me being influenced by the gogo music sounds of Washington, D.C." he explains. "I went to undergraduate and graduate school at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and gogo was all around me. As I moved from D.C. to Atlanta, GA, I was introduced to Makeba Woods, and I started working with her in the studio.
As we were recording some songs, I mentioned to Ms. Woods that I wanted to do a gogo song because of the musical influences that D.C. had on me, and Shake Em Off was born. For the Extended Version, 1K Phew of REACH RECORDS agreed to be on the track with me after sharing how much he loved the song after first listen."
David E. Johnson, Jr. is a singer, songwriter and actor who was born and raised in Memphis, TN. David officially entered the gospel music scene as a new artist on June 18, 2021, with the release of his single, Shake Em Off. David quickly followed up this release by filming the single’s official music video in the Nation’s Capital, Washington, D.C., during the summer of 2021.
In October of 2021, David participated in The Urban Soul Café’s Pre-Dove Awards Showcase (sanctioned event) in Nashville, TN. David was honored that REACH RECORD’s Christian hip-hop artist, 1K Phew, agreed to be a part of this latest single after first listen. 1K Phew’s 16-bar feature is a welcome addition to this fun and energetic gogo gospel song, penned by Makeba Woods and David E. Johnson, Jr. David resides in Memphis, TN, and he is managed by MOOREMENTUM under the leadership of gospel music veteran and producer, Michael Steven Moore.
