Sanmi Akinlabi Releases 'For the Rest of My Life'

Aug 09 2022

Sanmi Akinlabi has released 'For the Rest of My Life', taken from the album "Dance Again".

In that split second, in that moment, when you think about how wonderful, how powerful, and just how beautiful our God is; and you think about His awesome demonstration of love and what He continues to do for us; it compels you to love on Him and to worship Him with everything you have, everything you’ve got! This song is written and sung in that moment, and for the rest of my life I will love and worship the Lord.

Sanmi released his debut single, ‘Love Will’, in October 2020. Prior to this, he had been involved in the UK gospel scene for almost 3 decades.

In 2001, he recorded and sang a couple of his songs as a guest artist on an album.

Following his single, Sanmi released his 17-track debut album, ‘Dance Again’, in November 2020.

The album was initially planned for release in May 2020, but was delayed due to the global pandemic.

Growing up, he was influenced to sing by the music of Motown and he also loved listening to a lot of the classics from Solar Records!

He was a fan of the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Gladys Knight, Donna Summer, Barry White, Anita Baker, Paul McCartney, Teddy Pendergrass etc and bands like Kool & the Gang, Heatwave, The Commodores, The O’ Jays, Shalamar, Fat Back Band, Sister Sledge and the Jacksons etc. He loves jazz and has always been a fan of Earl Klugh, George Benson, Herbie Hancock, Spyro Gyra (and all ‘them’ lot…) and more recently Kirk Whalum and Paul Jackson Jnr.

From the late 80’s, listening to Amy Grant and then all things Winans had a major influence on his attitude and approach to music.

He is a big fan of Jonathan Butler, Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin and Bebe Winans; and His songs (style and music) are a blend of all the beautiful artists before him.
