BeBe Winans To Celebrate 60th Birthday With London Show
Benjamin “BeBe” Winans, six-time Grammy Award Winner, multi-platinum selling artist and songwriter, is coming to perform in the UK for one night only on Friday 16th September 2022 in honour of his 60th birthday. Most excitingly, he has chosen London as the location for this very special concert, a city truly close to his heart as BeBe had his first international commercial number one hit ‘I wanna be the Only One’ with homegrown R&B girl group Eternal.
Never one to disappoint, BeBe will be celebrating in true style, joined by his talented sibling Marvin L Winans. Other names gracing the line up on the night include musical legends such as Karen Clarke Sheard whose story was turned into biographical screenplay “The Clarke Sisters: The First Ladies of Gospel” (2020), charting the story of how Karen and her sisters rose from obscurity to become the highest selling gospel music group in history.
And if your head isn’t already spinning from these prospects, there is yet more! Hailing from Detroit, Donnie McClurkin, another Grammy award winning gospel artist known for his groundbreaking “Live in London” album, will also be performing. London Community Gospel Choir, with whom BeBe has a long-standing association, will join him on the night to perform a cover of Luther Vandross’ inspirational hit ‘Power of Love/Love Power’ almost thirty years after it was first performed at the Royal Albert Hall. Not one to be missed, the evening is truly set to provide an unparalleled musical experience.
BeBe has a history of celebrating his birthdays in grand style, holding concerts for his 45th and 50th in New York, with star studded casts, filled with popular and gospel singing legends as well as Hollywood A-listers. His previous birthday concerts have attracted iconic performers such as Stevie Wonder, Glady Knight, Quincy Jones and Dionne Warwick to mention a few.
As a younger member of one of gospel music’s all time greatest musical families, BeBe formed a successful duo with his sister Cece Winans. BeBe numbers among the first gospel artists to crossover into mainstream recognition, releasing a total of five albums together with Cece and winning multiple awards including Grammy’s and Dove Awards.
BeBe Winans is turning 60 on the 17th September 2022. He has stepped away from live shows in recent years to focus on showcasing his wider repertoire working with Oprah Winfrey as executive music producer for OWN Network hit series “Greenleaf” (2019-2020). BeBe also released his first solo Billboard gospel number one hit with ‘He Promised Me’ (2018) and has become known as Heart & Soul Channel radio show host for Sirius/XM Radio Networks. BeBe Winans also previously starred in Broadway's “The Color Purple” as Harpo (2008), alongside Chaka Khan who played his wife, Sofia.
Reaching the age of 60 is considered in some cultures as having completed a full life cycle, BeBe is set to celebrate his diamond birthday in style as he looks to the next chapter. This may very well be the biggest gospel celebration of recent times in the UK and you’re invited!
