South Africa's Garreth Trent Releases 'Come Home'
Singer/Songwriter Garreth Trent releases his brand new single 'Come Home' on Friday, 3 March 2023. "Come Home is a prodigal story, and was birthed from the first 2 lines of the song which were stuck in my head when I woke up one morning", he explains.
"I felt that the Lord was pressing me to write this song. When I sat back and looked at the completed lyrics I felt like the Lord was reaching out to lost sheep, those that have been His children, but have somehow lost their way, and when I played it for my producer the first time, it was confirmation. He said, “The world needs to hear this song”. I pray that this song will bring about the return of God’s people who have gone astray and lost their way, that they will realise that they’re never too far from God, He’s waiting for them with open arms."
Garreth is a singer/songwriter and worship leader from Johannesburg, South Africa. He has a heart for worship and is passionate to see God's people experience an intimate encounter with Jesus. He's been married to his amazing wife, Jackie since 2008, and has 2 wonderful kids, Daniel and Zoë.
He had a personal encounter with God on 10 February 2007 which changed his life forever, experiencing deliverance from addiction, conviction of the sinful life he was living, and had a personal revelation of the Living God. He's since devoted his life to be used by God and dedicates everything He has given back to Him. He started his musical journey at the age of 10 at the Drakensberg Boys Choir and studied with the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM) and UNISA, and music's been a big part of his life since.
One of the prevailing sources of inspiration for songwriting has been an inspired word from the Lord, or revelation of God through prayer or worship, carrying a very personal message, but one that is not unique to one person. We all face challenges that others can relate to, and writing songs about his own challenges that others can relate to as a source of encouragement and strength is the primary motivation for writing and releasing music.
