Fans of Linkin Park Will Love The Sound of Red Letter Rising's Brand New Album 'Echoes of Eden'

Mar 20 2023

Christian Hard Rock band Red Letter Rising announce the release of their album 'Echoes of Eden', available now on all streaming platforms via Broadhead Music Group.

Fans of legendary rockers Linkin Park would be forgiven for mistaking Red Letter Rising front man David Bean's vocals for the late Chester Bennington. Red Letter Rising's mix of 90’s grunge, early 00’s nu-metal, and today’s style of hard rock/metal meets rap core is reminiscent of that classic Linkin Park sound.

'Echoes of Eden' is a semi-autobiographical and deeply honest body of work, featuring tracks like 'Better Days', based on Bean's struggle with depression, and 'Truth of Life' which tells the story of his life growing up as a troubled kid, and how God brought him out of it.

"For a little over a year, I battled severe depression and panic attacks. I felt like I was losing my mind", admits Bean. "I wrestled with the idea that as a Christian I shouldn’t be struggling with things like depression and anxiety. But I was. I was stuck in a dark place in my head that had me believing I was no good to anyone, but also believing that God had a plan for my life.

It’s like I knew I would eventually get out of it, but it still felt like I never would. I was just hoping for better days. 'Better Days' is my way of trying to encourage others who are struggling with things like depression and anxiety to focus on the good things. Even if you don’t believe it right now.

Discussing the track 'Truth of Life', he jokes, "This song was an absolute pain in my side! I rewrote the lyrics at least five times. After feeling like there was nothing I could do for it, my engineer and producer Dylan McLain suggested I see if Miggy from Relent would be willing to jump on it.

The light bulb was brighter than the sun. I instantly reached out to Miggy, and shared with him my struggle and desire for the song. Miggy was more than helpful and inspiring. With a new outlook and inspiration, I went back to the drawing board."

Red Letter Rising was born January 2021 when David Bean decided it was time to record his first album. After 25 years of playing guitar, drums, and bass in various bands, and not having even one decent recording, he reached out to Dylan McLain (Relentless Flood) at Evolve Studios in Statesville, NC, and they started recording. With David’s creative writing, and Dylan producing.

Little did David know that God had bigger plans for his music. In January of 2022, RLR signed with Broadhead Music Group, and what seemed to be just an album turned into a lifelong dream come true. Then in February David brought on Luke DeMoss on guitar, and Dave Rourke on drums.

"I used to be a bully. I used to be arrogant and selfish. I would manipulate people to get what I wanted. I had one emotion; anger", confesses David Bean. "It made me feel like I was in control because I didn’t want to be a victim. I didn’t want anyone to have control over me. But I really had no control.

In November of 2016 I lost everything. I was incarcerated, lost my family, and friends. But, it’s what it took for me to finally be humbled. And that’s when I fell in love with Jesus!

“Red Letter Rising” is my way of helping those that are the victim of people like who I used to be. “Red Letter”, refers to the teachings of Jesus; Love and serve your neighbors. And “Rising” represents the change from being darkness, to a child of light. We can rise together.
