Dawn Holt Lauber, Bobby Lewis, Bobby Schiff, Stewart Miller, and Geraldo D'Olievira Perform The Jazz Hymn 'I Want Jesus To Walk WIth Me'
Dawn Holt Lauber was hailed as “exquisite” by Howard Reich of The Chicago Tribune for the world premiere performance of William Russos Jubilatem with the Chicago Jazz Ensemble. Lauber also performed with the CJE in Russos Chicago Suite 2 and Duke Ellingtons Sacred Concerts.
She first performed Ellingtons Sacred Concerts at The Riverside Church of New York City, which ignited an interest in jazz, both secular and what has come to be known as sacred jazz, or even church jazz.
Lauber’s album Everlasting (spirituals & hymns with jazz band) is featured on the jazz playlist of Sounds of Gospel Network radio.
She performs regularly with the Chicago band ChurchJazz. Their collaborations include worship services, concerts, tours, recordings, premiere of The Jazz Passion, and numerous benefits for World Vision, World Bicycle Relief, Jimmy Carter Foundation, and the Student Global AIDS Campaign, among others.
Dawn's albums include Joy (original sacred music), Everlasting (sacred jazz hymns and spirituals) and Heavenly (American jazz standards) and all feature Chicago’s finest jazz musicians.
The single "I Want Jesus To Walk With Me" from Everlasting is a jazzy tune with a great terrific groove of stand-up bass, horn & sax, and jazz drums. It is a song that you'll be humming long after you've heard it.
“Dawn Lauber is blessed with an exceptional vocal instrument and knows how to use it. … in all genres of music, she sings with compassion, unerring intonation and wonderful sound quality.” Bobby Lewis, Professional Trumpet / Flugelhorn Player
“… a talented soprano soloist, with an exquisite coloratura voice… When she sings the audience is hushed and attentive… Her Christian commitment definitely shows through in her musical performances.” Wheaton College Artist Series Board Member Alethea Funck
