Chris McDaniel Releases Two New Gospel Singles
Country music singer Chris McDaniel is releasing two gospel singles to digital streaming services via StarVista Music, the new song “Give ‘Em Grace,” written by Lee Bogen, and a cover of Ronnie McDowell’s “Don’t Give Up on Me Jesus.” Inspired by his wife’s courage during a recent series of medical setbacks, the songs are a preview of the new album that McDaniel plans to release later this year.
“I’ve been leaning toward my faith a bit more than usual,” explains McDaniel. “My wife has been going through a lot of medical issues and our faith has kept us strong amidst all of that so I found myself being drawn to gospel songs. I was actually working on a new country album at the time and already had three or four songs done when Ronnie McDowell sent me ‘Don’t Give Up on Me Jesus.’ We’ve known each other for years and I think he knew it spoke to where I was at right at that moment. Originally, I didn’t plan on releasing the song, I just did it for myself. But then my friend Lee Bogen (“Honky Tonk Attitude”) wrote “Give ‘Em Grace” while we were in the studio and asked me, ‘If you’re going to make a gospel album, would you do this song?’ So we stopped the country songs and now are planning a full gospel album for the fall. Sometimes when you start a project with one thing in mind, life takes you where you’re supposed to go.”
“I’m really grateful for the songs,” he continues, “and am delighted that StarVista Music is releasing them. I hope everyone enjoys these as much as I did recording them.”
Chris McDaniel is known for his country radio favorites Imagine Me and I Keep Telling You Heart, both written by Eric Horner , former band member for Lee Greenwood. Over the years Chris has shared the stage with such legends as Ronnie McDowell, T. Graham Brown and Tanya Tucker, just to name a few.
