Indie Christian Rock Artist BLKGRYWHT releases first half of anticipated Extended Play 'Spectrum'
Brooklyn Sheppard, also known as Indie Christian artist “BLKGRYWHT”, marks her first releases in the year 2023 with the distribution of three new songs, as part of her first Extended Play, “Spectrum”.
With the release of the EP split into two separate releases, labeled as “Volumes”, the first volume consists of the three singles, “I Am Not Alone”, “Irreplaceable”, and “Long Gone”.
The first track, “I Am Not Alone”, has a runtime of 3 minutes and 24 seconds, and embraces alternative rock vibes while conveying a story of holding tight to Christ’s presence in the midst of sadness, tying into BLKGRYWHT’s theme on the importance of vulnerability and honesty, particularly in faith.
The second track, “Irreplaceable”, has a runtime of 4 minutes and 41 seconds. Returning to the origins of pop rock from BLKGRYWHT's first single release, "Irreplaceable" draws inspiration from personal experiences struggling with self-esteem, and ultimately proves to be an uplifting, energetic rock track.
The last track in the volume, “Long Gone”, has a runtime of 4 minutes and 6 seconds, and involves the idea of attaining a new attitude and outlook on life after accepting a new beginning given by Jesus. Compared to the first two tracks, "Long Gone" takes on a more sentimental, yet determined mood, with a hint of optimism near the end.
"I Am Not Alone", "Irreplaceable", and "Long Gone" mark BLKGRYWHT's fourth, fifth, and sixth singles released overall, respectively. Unlike BLKGRYWHT’s previous releases, this marks both the first (staggered) album release and the first release having an album name. The choice of naming the EP “Spectrum” falls in line with the visual artistic theme incorporated into her brand.
“Like with my stage name, I knew that I wanted the theme of art to be incorporated into my album names, too,” Brooklyn says. “I think a lot about colors and what they symbolize. Kind of like a rainbow, I want this EP as a whole to give a little bit of everything.”
In addition to the three that have been released today, three more songs are to be released as part of this EP, release date to be announced later this year.
