Greaternity Releases Breakout Single, 'Love You Like Jesus', A Very Special Wedding Song
Christian music project, Greaternity, joyfully announces their third single, 'Love You Like Jesus,' was released on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. 'Love You Like Jesus' was written by Greaternity's Bobby Joe Owens (aka Robert J. Thompson) for his May 2023 wedding. Inspired by The Holy Spirit, "Love You Like Jesus" is a serenade for his bride Anna and also aligns with the Apostle Paul's teachings in Ephesians 5:25:
‘Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,’
This song message is a commitment to LOVE one's wife in the greatest possible way with Jesus' LOVE for His Church as the example. There has never been a greater love and we should all strive to love our spouses and one another in the same way.

Greaternity is led by singer/songwriter Bobby Joe Owens (aka Robert J. Thompson) who wrote 'Love You Like Jesus', 'Trust My Word' and 'The Son of Man' after being born again in the fall of 2021. “In the fall of 2021, after my fiancé had a near death experience following a minor surgical procedure, she went downhill quickly. She was placed on a ventilator and given a 50% chance of survival. I hadn’t prayed in decades, but something deep down inside me told me to pray and to get as many as I could to join in," Owens said, explaining the origins of the overall project.
“Pray we did and over the next few days, I witnessed several little miracles and the healing Grace of God. It wasn’t looking good, she was given the ‘Anointing of the Sick,’ but she hung on and kept getting gradually better day by day. I finally brought her home after three weeks in the hospital and a rehab facility. After I felt she was out of the woods and on her way to a full recovery, I thanked God; asked how I could be of service and made it clear that I was ready to serve. To my surprise, God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ answered me.”
“They ‘authorized’ (not a mandate) me to write and record song messages from Jesus that were to be written and sung in the first person as if Jesus were singing. This authorization was so clear to me that I’ve never questioned it and have graciously accepted this as my mission for as long as the Holy Spirit guides me. They even gave me ‘The Son of Man’ as the title of the first and most important of the song messages, with others like 'Trust My Word' to follow.”
Although 'Love You Like Jesus' is not Jesus in the first person, it comes from the same place and compares how Jesus' loved His Church to how a Groom/Husband should love his wife. Owens continues, "Jesus saved the love of my life, Anna, and 'Love You Like Jesus' honors her as my wife and Jesus Christ as My Lord and Saviour. Glory be to God!"
Arranged by Virginia Beach Native Grant Hart, 'Love You Like Jesus' was recorded at Grant Hart Recording in Virginia Beach, VA. The song features lead vocals by Bobby Joe Owens and background vocals by Owens' trusted Sakari Greenwell, now based in Los Angeles. All instruments by Grant Hart, with the exception of acoustic guitar (Logan Barnes). Nashville Veteran, Trey Bruce, added some tasty electric guitar and percussion parts to finish off the track. 'Love You Like Jesus' was mixed and mastered by Toronto based David Mohacsi.
