Allie Crummy To Release Third Studio Album 'Earthly'
Allie Crummy is releasing her third studio album, 'Earthly', on September 1st, 2023. Allie is a deep thinker who doesn't like to write fluffy lyrics, and 'Earthly' is no exception. With songs that are lamentations about losing friendships and a sense of belonging ("People Change", "Where To Go"), or a song about the hope for the future due to learning from past mistakes ("I Know Better"), and even a breakup song that expresses the raw feelings of walking away from a damaging relationship ("Hard Time"), 'Earthly' is an album that is deeply spiritual and also deeply human.
"I am a Christian and I am also a human," says Allie. "I write songs about both, because those aspects of myself are deeply intertwined. I can't separate them." Allie finds inspiration from the psalmists, who expressed all of their feelings to God, as well as from Jesus, who lived a fully human life and also was divine, showing that spiritual holiness does not have to be divorced from the created world or from the human experience.
'Earthly' draws on influences from a variety of Christian writers. "Life Is Stronger" is based on a quote from Henri Nouwen. "Serenity" is based on the extended version of the Serenity Prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr, and speaks of embracing our limitations as humans; which is a theme that carries into "Can I Just Be Weak", an indie-rock anthem for anyone who has ever felt the pressure to always have it all together.
'Earthly' releases on September 1st everywhere you stream music.
