Veteran Singer/songwriter Steve Camp has just released his first original Christmas song, 'Immanuel'. Louder Than The Music spoke to this respected artists about his background in music, plans for a new album, and his new release.

For those who haven't heard of you before, can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got involved in making music?

I'm from Chicago, born in Wheaton IL.I had a band in high school that I originally played guitar for, but our piano player quit, and I was forced to pick up the duties! Since the beginning of my musical career in 1975, I've had 15 No.1 songs, 40+Top Tens, released 22 albums and have traveled the world extensively as a performng artist. I'm a Singer/Songwriter, and I still play piano and rhythm guitar.

Tell us about your new single 'Immanuel' and what the inspiration behind it was?

This is my first original Christmas single, and first mainstream release in 48 years! The inspiration for it is this: The coming of the Messiah was prophesied by the prophet Isaiah 700 years before the birth of Jesus! Here's the promise: "Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel." (Isaiah 7:14). Merry Christmas...for Immanuel, God is with us!

Do you have any plans to release more music in the near future?

Yes! I have a mainstream release, 26-song double album, self-entitled C A M P. Based on the theme of Neighbors in an Age of Rage, it's due out in 2024

How would you define success in your career as an artist?

1Timothy 6:6 - "But godliness with contentment is great gain"

What is your favorite album of all time?

Abbey Road by the Beatles

You're stuck on an island, it's hot, you only have enough battery life left to listen to one song on your phone. What track is it?

When I Survey The Wonderous Cross by Isaac Watts

What does the next year hold for you?

I don't know; I'm not God, but I trust in His Sovereignty and Providence everyday.
