Florida emcee R.kitect delivers 'Relax, I’ve Done This Before', a 7-track album full of special guests, and special sounds.
The album opens with the haunting 'Random. Access. Memory.' With an echoey choir overlaid with the deep dramatic vocals, stating "I remember everything, the sacrifice, the pain, the victory..." Eventually the song launches into a rousing rap and the music switches from the atmosphere-building tone to the more common bleeps and beats of a HipHop track. This superb opener quickly sets the tone for what is to come.

Next up is 'Weapons Free' featuring the ever-exciting artist Datin, who brings a different tone to the sound - sharing vocals with R.kitect. Rapping their way through issue after issue, the backing track leans heavily on a synth but interspersed with dramatic drum fills.
'Objects In Mirror' has a softer feel, "I just need Jesus" R.kitect admits as he delivers a masterclass in how Christian HipHop meets Christian Rap. The foreground tempo clicks along while in the background a gentle synth brings a delicate depth to the track.
'Jonah Fish (Director's Cut)' feels like a real crowd pleaser. I can imagine the jumping crowd, swaying together as one, as R.kitect spits bars. 'Know Tha Name' features Dj Numan who really comes to the fore in the middle of the track where his bleeps and scratches add to the diversity of this appealing track. Up next is 'IG Live Interlude' (feat. Attam) which is a short and curious insight into what feels like a voicemail message or interview, discussing the collabs these artists are planning.
Final track 'Rise Of The Wounded' (again featuring Attam) starts with a fabulously distorted sung lyric while the haunting music drifts around the mix like fog on a dark night. R.kitect emerges from that fog to deliver his sermon, HipHop style. There is the sense of a track building and building as it progresses... the anticipation is incredible and musically it makes the hairs on your arms stand up. What a way to end a brilliant album.
This is a quality release from R.kitect and fans of CHH who aren't familiar with his work need to take note, this is a rising star in the genre who's music speaks for itself. Not afraid to speak his mind or address everyday issues, the raps are on point, the music is addictive, and the overall tone is stunning. Catch this artist live if you can, but if you can't, add these tracks to your playlist and you won't be disappointed.
