Dove Award-Winning Michael Boggs' First Solo Christmas Single, 'Come You Unfaithful,' Becomes Breakout Radio Hit
The first solo Christmas single from multiple Dove Award-winning singer, songwriter and worship leader Michael Boggs, 'Come You Unfaithful,' has become a breakout hit this season at Christian radio. Available at digital and streaming outlets everywhere, the song shares a beloved melody along with newly crafted lyrics that serve as a beautiful reminder that regardless of whether or not we feel faithful, worthy or joyful in life, Christ still came for us.
There are only three new Christmas songs at Christian radio with more reporting stations playing them than “Come You Unfaithful,” and Boggs’ song ties for KING & COUNTRY for second most adds at radio this week. Stations already spinning the song include K-LOVE, HIS Radio, SOS Radio, Family Life Network (Tucson), WGTS (Washington, DC), WCVO (Columbus, OH), WCSG (Grand Rapids, MI), WPER (Richmond, VA), WBFJ (Winston-Salem, NC), WONU (Chicago/Indianapolis) and many more.
“Starting my 38th year of radio promotion, all in the Christian music industry - every once in a GREAT while will a song come across my desk that stops me in my tracks and just simply gets ahold of me!” exclaims music industry veteran Chris Hauser. “Michael Boggs’ ‘Come You Unfaithful’ is one of those songs. And it’s one thing for me to get excited, but it’s an entirely different thing when radio follows along en masse and chooses to share that special song.”
"I’m pretty sure I had to pick my jaw up off the floor after hearing ‘Come You Unfaithful’ for the first time last December,” remembers WBGL (Champaign, IL) Program Director Ryan Springer. “It struck me as a song that would resonate deeply with those feeling broken, unworthy or disconnected from God, and isn’t that all of us at times? The unsolicited listener feedback we received at WBGL was incredible. People were moved to tears, sharing the song with friends and family, and even finding it perfect for ministries like Celebrate Recovery.”
Deeply humbled and appreciative for the reception the song has received, Boggs says, “‘Come You Unfaithful’ is about how grateful I am that Jesus didn't just come for the faithful or those who have it all together. Instead, He came for the unworthy, the unrighteous and, yes, even the unfaithful. As believers, we can rejoice in this one simple truth: Christ came for everyone. And that to me is the beauty of Christmas.”
Offering a new perspective through the melody of the beloved carol, “O Come All Ye Faithful,” Boggs’ “Come You Unfaithful” was produced by Scott Williamson (FFH, Lincoln Brewster, Point Of Grace) along with a lush, live-recorded string section arranged and directed by Jason Webb (Lauren Daigle, Chris Tomlin, Josh Groban).
