The albums opens with the song Run and Hide. This is an atmospheric and uplifting track which overall is so powerful and beautiful. The song has a big chorus anthem that builds into a crescendo of praise. This is a really strong opening track.

The album moves on to the track ‘Forgiven’ which is a mid tempo song that features the wonderful talents of Matt Redman. A marvellous song that is truly a great track. The same pace of the album continues with ‘The Ways It’s Supposed to Be’, before the album then turns a little with the funky dance inspired track ‘Easy Lovin’ You’ - a really good song that again is another twist musically for the album.

What I enjoyed on this album is the fact that Kayla uses her vocals so differently on each of these songs so that her voice fits perfectly into the song styles.

In the latest interview with LTTM, Kayla says of this album "Soar is really a compilation of different single releases over the last year or two. Some songs you can worship to with all of your heart, while some are just fun, ‘roll your window down’ and jam out with joy of the Lord."

And that is exactly how this album felt to me, it has a varied collection of sounds and styles that gives this album something for everyone. One moment you are singing along out loud the next you are dancing in the living room to a great pop track.

This album shows the diverse styles and sounds of Kayla and that is what makes this album such a really strong positive release for a very talented singer songwriter. Soar is an album that is not only enjoyable and uplifting it’s 8 strong tracks compiled together by Kayla over the last two years.
