Christian Metal Band Announces Name Change Amid Trademark Conflict

Aug 28 2025

New Christian metal act Ashes Awake has officially announced a name change to Ashes Awaken due to an unexpected trademark conflict with a Swedish band operating under the same name.

While the name may be evolving, the message - and the music - remain unchanged. The band’s debut single, 'A Better Way,' will still be released on schedule through MTS Records on August 29, 2025, across all major digital platforms. A full-length album is planned for late 2025.

The decision to change the band’s name was made out of respect for international intellectual property laws and to avoid confusion among fans worldwide.

“We had a vision when we started this journey - to share our testimony through music and reach those searching for hope,” says the project leader, Michael Stover. "Though the name is different, our mission remains the same. ‘Ashes Awaken’ represents not just a legal shift, but a spiritual one. We’re rising from the ashes renewed, refocused, and ready to share the message of redemption through Jesus Christ."

“A Better Way” is a powerful anthem of transformation and triumph over addiction, anchored in the Stover’s personal experiences and deep-rooted faith. With lyrics like “Only Love can set me free,” the track brings together pummeling guitars, soaring vocals, and an unshakable spiritual foundation.

The single is already gaining early traction with Christian rock and metal radio programmers and is charting on the Christian Music Weekly Loud/Metal Top 25.

Ashes Awaken fuses heavy metal intensity with a redemptive, faith-driven message, offering a bold new voice in the Christian music landscape. Their debut is not just a song - it’s a lifeline for anyone searching for a way out of darkness.

Fans, media, and radio outlets are encouraged to update their records to reflect the band’s new name, Ashes Awaken. Promotional materials and updated branding are currently being rolled out across all platforms.
