Review
Californian indie rockers Starflyer 59 have released their latest offering in the form of The Changing of The Guard. This ten track album has been produced by the band's frontman and main songwriter Jason Martin. With over ten albums under their belt and 15 years of experience, Starflyer 59 have become a dependable and unpredictable band on the Tooth & Nail label.
From listening to this new album I want to claim straight away, I love this indie/alternative rock album, yet I can tell it will not be everybody's cup of tea/coffee, but isn't that what makes music great?

The album starts with Fun is Fun which really sets the whole tone of the album, with a guitar solo like the Beatles 'While My Guitar Gentle Weeps', it's low, mellow, mysterious vocals are prominent throughout the song along with all tracks on this album.
If I had to try and explain what the album sounded like, and as I'm writing the review I really should, the album sounds like British band The Divine Comedy, with a hint of The Killers and indie rock music of years gone by from the 60's and 70's.
The album has a great flow to it, with each track seamlessly moving between tracks, you can put this album on and listen from track to track and enjoy it as a complete product. The stand out tracks have to be the Black Rebel Motorcycle club sounding Cry Me A River, Kick The Can and Time Machine which had to be my favorites on this already strong album.
Christian indie rock hasn't sounded so good, I really enjoyed this album, as it was something new and interesting. Of course some people will think this isn't for them and that's great, but for me, I'm so glad I found this album, even though it has influences from years gone by it has a new and fresh sound.
