Worship Central 'Spirit Break Out' Was 10th Most Downloaded Album In UK Last Week
Following an outstanding release week, the new live album from Worship Central, 'Spirit Break Out' was confirmed as the 10th most downloaded album in the UK last week. Released last Monday, 12th September 2011, the album spent most of the week inside the Top 10 of the UK iTunes Album Chart, peaking at Number 9 sandwiched between mainstream megabands Coldplay and The Beatles. 'Spirit Break Out' also reached as high as Number 8 on the Amazon MP3 Album Chart. In the overall Official UK Album Chart, which takes into account physical and digital sales from numerous retailers, the album finished the week at Number 48. The album was also Number 6 in the Indie Album Chart, the highest new entry that week.
"The album charting has totally caught us by surprise", Worship Central told LouderThanTheMusic. "We never dreamed it would be in the charts. There was no marketing plan for a twitter take over. It's just happened. To be honest we just sort of woke up on Monday morning with it climbing the charts. It's totally down to the people - we're not a band, I guess we feel this is bigger than our team, we're all Worship Central... Every local church is making the worship of Jesus central."
Several celebrity fans have also tweeted in support of the album, with TV adventurer Bear Grylls writing: "Well done my friends who made this album, Worship Central, Spirit Break Out Nice!". BBC TV Football Focus Presenter Dan Walker tweeted: "My mate Tim Hughes is involved in an album called 'Spirit Break Out'. It's 10th in iTunes charts. Would be great to go mainstream. BUY IT!" Meanwhile, former Delirious? lead singer Martin Smith said "Very proud of all the worship central team, this movement is louder than the radio".
The 14 track album, which features Tim Hughes, Ben Cantelon, Al Gordon, Nikki Fletcher and Luke Hellebronth, was recorded live at London's HMV Forum in March this year in front of 2000 worshippers. Established songs like Tim Hughes' 'Counting On Your Name' and 'Wake Up' as well as Ben Cantelon's 'Saviour Of The World' are found on the album, along with a great selection of new ones.
