Popular worship group David Crowder Band announced to the world a few months back that they would be finishing in January 2012. The band said at the time, "We began conversations about what was to follow this sixth album. Some of us discussed maybe going back to school. Some of us talked about how great it might feel to be home with family more. Some mentioned maybe writing for a living, or at least getting to give more attention to it. Some talked about more music to be made and who they might enjoy making it with and how great it would be to have more diverse options open to them... And, out of these discussions, the decision was reached that this sixth album would be our last." This was a shocking statement to hear from the band for all their fans around the world.

The sixth album as we now know will be called 'Give Us Rest'. Since that announcement back in May 2011 fans are more eager than ever to hear what the band have to offer as their last album. "We are forever grateful for the support we have had from our church community, both local and extended. Really. It has been beautiful, all of it. And we will most definitely keep you informed as things progress and life's new twists and turns start to make themselves more apparent", said the band.

'Give Us Rest...', the band's sixth and final album, follows the band's previous studio album 'Church Music' (2009) which reached number 1 on the Billboard Christian albums chart and number 11 on the main Billboard 200 chart. The final album is a massive 34 tracks long.

David Crowder Band is a 6-piece Christian electronic rock and worship band from Waco, Texas. The band began when David Crowder from Texarkana, Texas, realized that almost half of the students at Baylor University were not attending church, which he found surprising since it is a Christian university. He and Chris Seay started University Baptist Church (Waco, Texas) in 1995 while he was still a student. Crowder led worship there and continued to do so throughout the year. The church's congregation grew, as did the band's lineup.

Crowder began writing songs to incorporate into the worship times at the church and eventually the church released an independent CD, Pour Over Me, followed by All I Can Say in 1999. These CDs brought the band to a wider audience and invitations to festivals and events followed. The band was signed to sixstepsrecords/Sparrow Records and has released six more albums to date. The band have won many awards over the years, but winning Worship Album of the Year 2008 for Remedy is counted as one the bands biggest successes.

When David first started writing music, he mainly focused on lyrics that discussed the difficult things he was going through. At that time there were not many congregational worship songs that did that so he struck a chord with many people. Today, David says that he writes many of his songs while riding in the car in the country with his wife. Even though his audience has changed, though, David always writes his songs with his University Baptist Church congregation in mind.

Although the David Crowder Band is comprised of six different individuals, they have all committed themselves to work together in an effort to give hope to those who have left the church, as well as those who have come back. They feel very blessed by the work God has done in their lives and look forward to what He has planned for them in the future.

Church Music released a few years ago now with hugely positive reviews, has been a massive favorite at LTTM. We described the album at the time as "a very arty album which I can only compare with the Kings of Leon sound. As a whole it's full of very atmospheric, almost anthemic sounds and a great listen... The album was recorded to fit as one complete piece of music, so essentially you can listen to it as 17 separate tracks or 73 minutes of solid music. Very tricky to create, very easy to get wrong and learning this did make me a bit nervous but it actually works very successfully in this case."

For now we would like to wish all of the band members in David Crowder Band good luck in the future with what ever they choose to do. And also to thank them for all the great songs they have given us over the years. Thank You.
